High Gloss Neutrals

kitchen designer|contemporary kitchen

Originally, this almost-square space had 3 structural issues that the homeowners wanted to improve as part of this long-awaited renovation. First, the space was dark, having only one small window over the sink. Second, there was a small pass through into the sunnier dining room that let in very little light.  Third, the garage had two entry doors--one led into the mudroom, the other directly into the kitchen--and the homeowners wanted to redirect all traffic through the mudroom.

The window was replaced with one triple the size, providing a view of the expansive property. Eliminating the door to the garage in the corner extended the sink run and made room for the dish storage cabinet that sits on the counter. This also expanded the pantry/refrigerator run to include a center work area that sports a hand painted tile back splash mirroring the actual view from the new window. Finally, we eliminated all but two support posts between kitchen and dining room, which, along with the new window and island, created a sun filled living space.
