Grey and Khaki Kitchen with Mudroom

kitchen designer|transitional|warm neutral color

The original kitchen in this large in-town home was out of step with the size and feel of the surrounding spaces. Narrow passageways, limited counter space and a skimpy island made meal prep unmanageable for a family with multiple cooks. After the homeowners heard other remedial proposals that required a large addition, we were able to show them this way to reorganize the existing space and provide the much needed function.  The kitchen now features a large center island with seating, integrated refrigerator and pullout pantry, a cooking wall, and a banquette between matching bookcases.

In the process, we redefined the narrow adjoining space to create a compact mudroom. One end houses a mail sorting station, desk, under counter space for the dog bed, a boot-washing sink, pullout trash and a broom closet. On the other end, we replaced a space-consuming closet with a free standing custom armoire.
