This kitchen was part of a much larger whole house renovation that included multiple additions, all incorporating the homeowners' beautifully unique style. When we arrived, the project was well underway with the kitchen area defined but still a blank canvas. The prime directive was to create a entirely non-cookie cutter kitchen, and traditional white cabinetry was definitely not an option. After seeing the already completed rooms and the other works in progress, it was clear we needed to think outside of the box.
The end result is a collaborative combination of colors, textures and forms that reflect, but do not duplicate, those in rest of this eclectic home. Green birds eye maple, red english sycamore and color-changing paint on rippled doors are arranged in carefully planned sections that give the room visual motion.
*This project was completed while at Spyglass Design in Hopewell, NJ.
